Dr. Tom Carpenter

Dr. Carpenter grew up in rural upstate New York. His life long passion for animals originated growing up in a family with farming roots and a house full of pets. He grew up with a beagle named Adam and a calico cat named Peanuts. Adam was his constant companion as he roamed the fields and delivered newspapers as his first job. Adam knew his country paper route as well as he did, often taking short cuts to arrive ahead of him. Adam would often ward off an aggressive canine or two who made it their life's mission to chase after a fifth grader on a bike in the middle of nowhere!

When Dr. Carpenter was in high school he volunteered at a local animal hospital and was soon hired to work in the kennels. He always loved animals but now he began to realize the amazing bond shared between owners and their pets. He received his veterinary education at Iowa State University and serves as a clinical professor at the Western University College of Veterinary Medicine.

In 2007-2008 he served as the president of The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

He is married with two adult sons, Adam and Steve. His wife Debbie spent many a late night in surgery with him early in his career. He and Debbie love running and their dog Marley leads the way.
